River Park is a neighborhood located right next door to East Sacramento. As one might suspect, the area gets its name from its proximity to a river, in this case the American River.
Its boundaries include the American River curving around to the north and east, H Street on the south and the Southern Pacific Railroad to the west. It is located right across the river from Cal Expo, and bumps up against California State University Sacramento.
River Park has all the charm and amenities one might expect from a quaint, little village. It contains several locally owned shops and restaurants. Glenn Hall Park is a large recreational area that provides the River Park neighborhood with plenty of green space, a public pool, playground, tennis courts and soccer fields. It also offers easy access to Paradise Beach on the river.
Its home are just as quaint and well-kept as the businesses that reside there. Styles range from cottage bungalows to sprawling ranches to contemporary. The great majority of these homes were built in the 1950s and later.
